Voorafgaand aan de Dag van de Psychotherapie organiseren de RINO Groep en de NVP op 8 december 2022 een Engelstalige masterclass met Carla Sharp. Zij is bekend vanwege de belangrijke wetenschappelijke bijdrage die ze levert aan het begrijpen van de fenomenologie, de oorzaken en belangrijke invloeden op het ontwikkelen van persoonlijkheidspathologie in de kindertijd en adolescentie.

    Deze masterclass wordt gehouden in het Engels en houdt in dat een groep van zo’n 50 tot 80 ervaren en minder ervaren psychotherapeuten na een op de praktijk gerichte lezing met de spreker discussiëren en naar aanleiding van casuïstiek inzichten uitwisselen. De masterclass heeft de titel: “Slowing down and stretching out: A mentalizing approach for adolescents with personality difficulties”

    About Carla Sharp
    Carla Sharp PH.D is a Professor in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program and Associate Dean for Faculty and Research at the University of Houston, where she is also Director of the Adolescent Diagnosis Assessment Prevention and Treatment Center and the Developmental Psychopathology Lab.
    She holds adjunct positions at The University of Texas, Baylor College of Medicine, University College London and the University of the Free State in South Africa.
    She has a longstanding interest in social cognition (mentalizing) as a cause and correlate of psychiatric disorder across the lifespan with a special focus on youth.
    She has published over 300 peer reviewed publications, numerous chapters and eight books. A large proportion of her research uses Borderline Personality Disorder (and other personality pathology) to study where social-cognitive function goes awry. As such, she has significantly advanced scientific understanding of the phenomenology, causes and correlates of personality pathology in youth.
